Why We Started Diamantes Designs
Engineering and art were never separate disciplines. They just have different focuses.
Welcome to the Diamantes Designs Journal, a place where we'll be writing about the work as it happens: new pieces, the process behind them, and the ideas driving the studio. To start, it felt right to explain where the name comes from, and why the studio exists in the first place.
Nothing exists without roots
The name Diamantes comes from my family name, Diamantopoulos, and it's a tribute to the woman who raised me: my grandmother. She taught me that meaningful work begins with strong foundations, patience, and dedication. The studio is named after her because everything we make here follows that same idea.
Two disciplines, one process
Growing up, I never understood why technology and art were treated as completely different disciplines. To me, they have always followed the same creative process:
Idea → Development → Experimentation → Creation
The only difference between them is their focus. Engineering asks how something works. Design asks how something feels. One is driven by function, the other by emotion, but both rely on curiosity, iteration, and a willingness to get something wrong before getting it right.
Why the studio exists
Diamantes Designs was created to unite these two worlds. We use 3D technologies, CAD engineering, digital sculpting, Blender, product visualization, and experimental design, as creative tools, bringing technical precision and creative exploration into the same room instead of treating them as separate stages of a project.
Every piece that comes out of the studio, from a single wearable object to a full commissioned build, gets equal attention to functionality, aesthetics, and innovation. That's not a tagline, it's the actual order of operations.
For us, technology is another artistic medium, and creativity is another form of engineering. Everything else on this Journal will be about what that looks like in practice.
